The House and Senate have passed a bill (S4119) that has extended the current RECA legislation by a further two years. It now needs to go to the President for signature prior to becoming law. In the meantime, we continue to work with NAAV on the Bill to extend and expand RECA.

Even if they are no longer alive, the family maybe entitled to compensation under the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act.
This includes UK service personnel who witnessed an atmospheric test or were present up to six months after.

The United States Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA) allows "onsite participants" at atmospheric nuclear weapons tests who can claim participation in an onsite test and have had subsequent diagnosis of a specified disease to claim a lump sum payment of $75,000 even if they are a UK serviceman.

of the Bighorn test at Christmas Island during Operation Dominic, which also fell on Armed Forces Weekend.
